Population

The population size of the species is not known. However, in Queensland it has been reported as locally common (Hacker 1990). Likewise in parts of its native Asian range it is also considered to be locally common.

Specimens have been collected within protected areas throughout the species range, such as Kenting National Park in Taiwan . Seeds have been collected as an conservation effort by the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI). It is not known to occur in any Botanical Garden.

Range Description:

Alysicarpus bupleurifolius has a widespread native distribution across temperate from China to India, Pakistan and south to Papua New Guinea. It has become naturalized in other areas including Australia and its origin is uncertain in islands of the west Indian Ocean, including Mauritius and Madagascar.
